Noren shoots clear in Stockholm
Local hope Alexander Noren holds a three-shot lead at the halfway point of the Scandinavian Masters.
Noren fired a bogey-free round of 66 in his native Stockholm to help himself to 11 under overall after Friday’s second round.
Indian Shiv Kapur is Noren#8217;s nearest challenger on eight under, while Americans Bubba Watson and South African Jaco Van Zyl are five shots off the pace.
Australian Scott Hend is also right in contention, back in a tie for fifth and six shots behind Noren follwing a second round two under par 70.
Scott Strange (71) is three shots further back while Marcus Fraser (74) was the only other Aussie to make the cut at one over.
Two-time European Tour winner Noren did his best work on the front nine, hitting two successive birdies to start his round.
He added more birdies on holes six, seven, nine and 11 before keeping his cool in the final stages of his round to end without a blemish on his scorecard.
Kapur matched Noren’s 66 with eight birdies, while Watson shot five back-nine birdies en route to a five-under 67.
Van Zyl, who co-led the tournament after Thursday#8217;s opening round, could only follow up with a one-under-par 71 but that was enough to see him in a tie for third.
Swede Robert Karlsson, Hend and England’s Anthony Wall were tied for fifth, six shots off the pace.
Rounding out the top 10 on four under are South Korean Jin Jeong and Swedish duo Niklas Lemke and Fredrik Henge.
