New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton was suspended without pay for the 2012 season by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, and former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was banned indefinitely on Wednesday because the team’s players were paid bounties for big hits on opponents from 2009-11.
The NFL said it is the first time the league has suspended a head coach. The explanation for Payton’s ban indicates he tried to cover up what the Saints were doing.

WINTHROP, Mass.—A Massachusetts man accused of aiming a laser pointer into the eyes of the opposing goalie at his daughter’s high school hockey game is facing criminal charges.
Authorities announced Tuesday that 42-year-old Joseph Cordes will be summoned to East Boston District Court to face a charge of disturbing the peace.
Police say Cordes pointed the light at the Medway/Ashland goalie during a Feb. 29 tournament game in Winthrop, north of Boston. He was ordered out of the arena by a school official.
Winthrop won 3-1, prompting a protest from the Medway/Ashland parents who asked that the game be replayed. The governing body of high school sports in Massachusetts denied the appeal.

NEW YORK – Jeremy Lin was given a helping hand by fellow point guard Baron Davis as the New York Knicks made good use of their newly discovered depth to roar past the Cleveland Cavaliers 120-103 on Wednesday.
The Knicks trailed by as many as 17 points in the second quarter and were a dozen behind at halftime before getting a lift from their second wave of players, who helped carry the New Yorkers to a victory that evened up their record at 18-18.

This past Monday on the February 20 edition of Raw, we bore witness to the inherent wickedness of Eve Torres.
As she told the Bella twins at the outset of the show, she never had any intention of pursuing an intimate relationship with “The Broski.”
To make matters worse, she duped Zack Ryder into falling for her for the sole purpose of “using” him.
Suffice it to say, Eve’s abrupt heel turn shed light on her sociopathic tendencies and total disregard for all that Ryder had done for her.
Primarily, he sacrificed life and limb for the diva, which was a direct result of him wanting to protect her from the destructive clutches of Kane.

NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock says if he were the Browns, he “would do whatever it takes to get there” to get Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III in the draft a little more than two months from now.
During a lengthy conference call Wednesday, Mayock praised Griffin’s arm strength, athletic ability, pocket awareness and ability to take a hit.
